GRI #542

Reteocrinus sp.

This sea lily was collected in Ontario, Canada. The exact location is unknown, but the genus is found in the Bobcaygeon Formation, as well as some other localities in Ontario. Reteocrinus is classified within camerate crinoids, but has some unusual characteristics for this group, such as pentameric stem (i.e., each individual columnal of the stem is made up of five distinct plates) and arms without pinnules (Cole, 2017). Reteocrinus is one of the genera that disappeared at the top-Katian crinoid mass extinction level.
